The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has decided to launch a campaign to replace single and three-phase defective meters across the district in July.
It will help minimise consumer complaints regarding billing on average basis and ensuring energy audit. A spokesman on Thursday said the electricity meters were available in sufficient quantity and the defective meters would be changed on priority basis. UHBVN will also provide meters to the prospective consumers.
In order to ensure continued power supply during paddy season, UHBVN has also decided to extend the period of engagement of 10 persons for each of its operation sub-divisions for another two months. Earlier, the sub-divisions were allowed to engage 10 persons up to July 31. The engaged persons will now continue up to September 30.
The decision has been taken by the management in view of shortage of staff in UHBVN. These persons will help restore power supply during breakdowns and assist their supervisors in carrying out everyday activities. They will also attend consumer complaints as early as possible.
UHBVN will enforce new power regulatory measures for rural domestic consumers with effect from July 4. It has been decided to supply power to these consumers from 7pm to 6am daily as per schedule. During day time, electricity will be supplied to consumers in two groups for three hours each. The first group will get power from 11am to 2 pm, and the second group, from 2pm to 5pm.
