Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal said on Saturday that strong ties between medical fraternities of India and Pakistan would benefit the people of both the countries.
The chief minister was addressing a delegation of doctors from Pakistan led by president of SAARC surgical care society, Dr A Majeed Chaudhary that came to meet him in Chandigarh, an official spokesman said.
"Mutual cooperation and support of medical fraternity will not only improve the prospects of providing excellent healthcare facilities to the people, but also provide the required fillip to further enhance people-to-people contact in the region," Badal was quoted as saying.
Badal accepted the delegation request to inaugurate their annual conference scheduled to be held in Jalandhar from September 7 to 9.
