Delivery boy arrested for snatching purse

Chandigarh police arrested a person while he was trying to flee after snatching a purse from a woman near Sector 38 West, here on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Nisad, a resident of Dadu Majra Colony (DMC) who works as a delivery boy at Pizza Hut, Sector 35.

Inspector Narinder Patial said the victim, Kamlesh, was on her way back home when she was attacked by Nisad and his companion Naveen Kumar. The duo tried to flee from the spot but the victim and passerby's raised an alarm.

Beat constable Nazer Singh chased the duo and arrested Nisad, while Naveen managed to escape.

Police recovered the purse from the accused who was later produced in the court and remanded to two-day police custody.

A case of assault or criminal force in attempt to commit theft of property and punishment for theft has been registered under sections 356, 379, of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in the Sector 39 police station.

In another incident, village Baterla resident Surinder alleged that four unknown occupants of an Esteem car (HR-02-AB-5409) sped away after snatching his mobile phone at gun point near Attawa Chowk.

A case of theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft under (section 382) of the IPC has been registered at the Sector 36 police station.
