Infighting within the Faridabad unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party came into the open after some party leaders who were denied tickets for the assembly elections raised the banner of revolt against the party. Two of them even decided to contest the polls on Indian National Lok Dal tickets.
The BJP has again fielded Seema Trikha for the Bhadkal assembly seat, which was being sought by ex-MLA Chander Bhatia. Bhatia announced at a ceremony held on Sunday marking the death anniversary of his father that he would soon decide on his next course of action. The surprise guest on the occasion was INLD leader Abhay Chautala, who offered an INLD ticket to Bhatia, accusing BJP state president Ram Bilas Sharma and central minister Krishenpal Gurjar of “selling” the party’s tickets.
Bhatia is now set to contest the polls on the INLD ticket.
In another instance, the BJP fielded Vipul Goel, a businessman, for the Faridabad segment, in the process overlooking a party ground level worker, Pravesh Mehta. The latter organised a rally on Monday, where INLD leader Abhay Chautala, offered Mehta the ticket from the Faridabad constituency.
