Residents were at the receiving end on Monday, as the work came to a standstill at the Registration and Licensing Authority (RLA), in Sector 17 for two hours, following an unscheduled power cut.
Sources revealed that owing to absence of power backup, computers remained shut at these offices and a few which worked were too slow to process the applications forcing residents to wait for several hours to get their work done.
Aman a resident of Sector 35, Chandigarh, complained: “I waited for more than two hours to deposit my application only to be told later that it would take a lot of time as the server has slowed down.”
Kartik, a resident of Sector 15, Chandigarh, rued: “I waited for two hours to get my learner's licence. There was no electricity for two hours and they did not even have power backup.”
Registration and Licensing Authority, Mahavir Kausik, however, was not available for comments despite repeated attempts.
