After a brief respite from foggy conditions, thick fog engulfed most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Wednesday affecting flights and trains even as chilly conditions aggravated in the region with minimum temperatures falling sharply by up to three degrees Celsius.

Karnal settled at a low of 16.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal while Patiala had a low of 10.6 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal.

Among other places, Ambala had a low of 10.3 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal followed by 10 degrees Celsius at Chandigarh, also three notches above normal; 9.6 degrees Celsius at Ludhiana, three notches above normal; 8.6 degrees Celsius at Bhiwani.

Hisar settled at a low of 8.2 degrees Celsius, Narnaul 6 degrees Celsius and Amritsar 4.4 degrees Celsius. The MeT office has forecast foggy conditions in the region.
