The thick blanket of fog grounded 14 flights on Saturday, while six trains continued to run behind schedule, causing inconvenience to the commuters.
Out of the 15 flights operating from Chandigarh airport, only single flight of Air Asia India, connecting Chandigarh to Delhi could operate on Saturday. Other 14 flights were cancelled as the visibility fell owing to fog in the city as well as in Delhi.
Meanwhile, six trains were delayed on Saturday owing to dense fog.
The Unchahar Express that runs between Allahbad and Chandigarh chugged in 11 hours and 30 minutes late at city railway station and was delayed by 3 hours and 30 minutes in departure from the city. The Howrah-Chandigarh train continued to run late and was delayed by 11 hours and 30 minutes behind schedule, owing to fog.
The Sadbhavana Express running between Chandigarh and Lucknow was delayed by 8 hours and 30 minutes which delayed the departure of Sadbhavana by 3 hours and 30 minutes, while the Chandigarh- Yesvantpur Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express departed from the city railway station 4 hours behind schedule.
