Twenty-eight year old Aman Dhaliwal, the protagonist of upcoming Punjabi movie 'Ajj De Ranjhe', is a humble boy from the small town of Mansa, Punjab.

Ask him why he chose this line of career and he says, "I did not; it chose me. I always wanted to be a doctor to serve people. In fact, very soon I also plan to open up a cancer hospital, since I lost a very close professor of mine to cancer."

Elaborating further on his "it chose me" quote, Aman says, "I was in Delhi for the preparation of my medical entrance. Just to change my look a little [being conscious about being in Delhi], I walked into a salon. The minute I stepped in, a hairdresser caught hold of me and started doing my hair, mistaking me for the showstopper of some ramp show. As luck had it, the actual show stopper (an Italian) decided to give the show a miss.

The organiser of the show then requested me to be the showstopper, since I was already ready. That was the day I began my career in the glam world."

"Later, a photographer insisted that I get a portfolio shot with him, since he needed a model. Though I resisted the offer, due to lack of money, he said he'd do it for free. In fact, he was the one who showed my portfolio to some directors and got me work in some music albums and videos," adds Aman.

The road, however, was not exactly smooth for Aman. "For a major part of my life, I did not have any money. I've lived without food, shelter, money and family for a very long time. It was only after I did about 20 modelling shows and some music videos and commercials that life came on track and I started getting movie offers from big banners," he says.

About his role in the upcoming movie, 'Ajj De Ranjhe', Aman says, "The character I'm playing is very close to who I am in real life, and the story is very similar to mine, including the character of my dad in the movie. Besides spurts of comedy, this is the first time a Manmohan Singh movie will see some action."
