Actor Ajay Devgn says the sequel of the 2012 film “Son of Sardaar” will be a great match for the Hollywood war film “300”.

The actor adds that the sequel of the film will be based on the epic Battle of Saragarhi.

The sequel, which is based on the historic Battle of Saragarhi which was fought before the Tirah Campaign on September 12, 1897, between 21 Sikhs of the 36th Sikh Regiment (now the 4th Battalion of the Sikh Regiment) of British India, defending an army post, and more than 10,000 Afghan and Orakzai tribesmen.

The battle occurred in the North-West Frontier Province. It is now named the KhyberPakhtunkhwa and is part of Pakistan. The contingent of the 21 Sikhs from the 36th Sikhs was led by havildar Ishar Singh. They all chose to fight to the death.

It is considered by historians as one of history’s great laststands. Sikh military personnel and Sikh civilians commemorate the battle every year on 12 September as Saragarhi Day as the battle was given the honour of a regimental holiday.
