In a setback to the jailed president of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Om Prakash Chautala, two of his nephews joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at a function in Jind on Sunday.

At the culmination programme of Vijay Sankalap Yatra, the foreign minister and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj formally announced the induction of Anirudh and Aditya Chautala in the party fold.

Joining the BJP by the sons of late Jagdish Chander, the youngest son of late deputy prime minister Devi Lal, the BJP sees induction of the brothers as an achievement to penetrate into the Chautala bastion ahead of the assembly polls.

A political novice Anirudh had joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) before the parliamentary elections. He also runs a social organisation "Yuva Bolega".
