“Every year 16 December is celebrated as the Vijay Diwas to commemorate India's historic victory over Pakistan,” Singh said. He added that 195 brave soldiers achieved martyrdom in the 1971 war.

Singh exhorted the army personnel to rededicate themselves in the service of the nation and emulate the devotion and resoluteness of war veterans and martyrs, who had brought the Indian Army to the pinnacle of professional glory.

Major General Singh distributed the prizes to the winners of slogan writing and declamation contest that was organised on December 13 with students from 10 schools participating in the competition. Additional deputy commissioner, Kangra Sudesh Mokta, was also present on the occasion
