The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (DHBVN) had served a contract termination notice to the contractor in charge of the World Bank-financed Haryana power system improvement project which endangered the safety of a child in Gurgaon, DHBVN managing director, Dr Amit Agrawal said on Tuesday.
Stating that about three months ago too, one of the contractor's employees had lost his life in a tragic accident, he said that the notice of contract termination had been served to the contractor in charge of the two construction sites. All work by the contractor had ceased, and the safety of the closed work sites had been ensured.
He said that Haryana government, the management of the DHBVN and the World Bank had taken serious note of the incident of negligence at the construction sites.
The DHBVN had also suspended three officers for the lapse in supervision, and had initiated an internal inquiry into the accident which occurred on July 1, 2012 when a child had fallen into a pit dug for earthing of equipment, though was saved.
