Continuing its drive against drinking liquor at public places, the Chandigarh police arrested as many as 25 persons here on Monday.
Majority of the people held were from Industrial Area, Ram Darbar and Daria village.
According to the police, Saravjit Singh, a resident of Raipur Khurd, was caught consuming liquor near his house at a public place.
Heera Lal, resident of Phase 1, Industrial Area; Aakash Thappa, Upender Parshad and Bhanu, all residents of Phase 2, Ramdarbar; Gaurav, Surender and Vikas, all Sector-30 residents; Mohan and Dhani Ram of Daria village; Dimply Kumar of SAS Nagar; Happy and Madan Gopal of Sector 47 and Kamal Kumar and Kamlesh Kumar of SAS Nagar were also booked and arrested for consuming liquor at public places.
Others arrested for the offence include Sector-48 resident Money, Sarwan Kumar of Faidan village, Vijay Kumar of Burail village, Suraj Gupta of Sector 45, Ram Niwas of Sector 52, Pardeep Kumar of Sector 25, Aslam of Kajheri village, Dharmohinder Kumar of Burail village, Baldev Singh of Dhanas, Kala Ram and Seth Pal of Maloya Colony, Balwinder Singh of Sector 41A, and Harkesh of Sector 54.
All of them were arrested under section 68-1-14 of the Excise Act and later bailed out.
The police also nabbed a Hallo Majra resident carrying 104 capsules of Spasmocip Plus here on Monday evening. According to the police, Wasim was arrested from Phase 2, Industrial Area.
A case was registered a case under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
