The local administration had demolished many riverside cafes and dhabas at various places in the Manali sub-division.
The action was followed by the recent Thalout disaster which claimed lives of 24 engineering students from Hyderabad after the water was allegedly released from the Larji dam.
The team engaged in removing the cafes and river-crossing structures consisted of local tehsildar Padma Chhering, police and forest department officials. The drive was started on Wednesday under the supervision of additional district magistrate Viney Singh Thakur, while illegal river-crossing structures were removed on Thursday at 15 Miles, Kalath and Bahnu Bridge from the Beas river along the Kullu-Manali national highway 21.
The team demolished all riverside cafes and river-crossing structures being run without any permission so that the safety of the tourists and adventurers could be ensured.
“The drive has been launched on the order of the district magistrate. The drive would further continue by the joint team from department of forest, local administration officials and police department,” said tehsildar.
