Driver killed, cleaner wounded by highway robbers in Kurukshetra

A driver of a truck carrying coal was stabbed to death while its cleaner was seriously wounded by a gang of highway robbers near Masana village in Kurukshetra district on Sunday.

After committing the crime, the assailants took away the truck. Police has yet to establish identify of the deceased, the injured Johny was rushed to the PGIMER, Chandigarh on Sunday morning.

Johny received deep wound on neck and his condition is stated to be critical.

Duo was carrying load of coal from Assam and heading towards Punjab when a gang targeted them on GT Road, about 55 kms from here.

Police has reportedly recovered one knife and spotted three pools of blood at the crime spot.
The Kurukshetra deputy superintendent of police Nirmal Singh said that the police have recovered the truck parked near a hotel in Shahabad and his team has got vital tips about the criminals involved in the crime.

Residents of Masana village first spotted Johny and his companion lying on a pool of blood this early morning and immediately informed the police. Victims were spotted at lay-by road on the NH-1.
