A businessman's driver was allegedly robbed of Rs 10 lakh by four men, including two posing as cops, near the Sector-52 furniture market on Thursday evening.

The victim, Dharampal, 51, works as a driver with Shiv Prasad, an Industrial Area-based businessman. He told the police that he was going from Phase 1, SAS Nagar, towards his employer's Industrial Area office in a Toyota Innova, when four persons, including two in police uniform, riding two motorcycles signalled him to stop.

Dharampal claimed when he stopped the car, the four men started assaulting him, and snatched a bag containing Rs 10 lakh that was handed over to him by his boss, before fleeing the spot.

He informed his boss about the robbery and the latter sounded the police, who reached the spot and registered a case.

Meanwhile, police said they were verifying the matter, as the victim initially said he was duped and later claimed that he was robbed.
