A high-powered team led by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president Manjit Singh GK on Saturday rushed to the trouble-torn Saharanpur where two people were killed and a number of them were injured when two communities clashed over a prime land.
GK told HT in the evening that in the Clock Tower area of the city, still a number of shops were burning and he was going to meet the district officials to control the situation.
According to him, those killed in the clashes could not be identified but the loss to property was huge.
MLA and DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa and other office-bearers of the Delhi committee also accompanied GK.
"I have appealed to the Sikhs who gathered in the gurdwara to maintain peace," said GK. The team would stay there till peace was maintained.
