Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has taken up the task of painting Anandpur Sahib town white on the occasion of the 350th foundation day of the holy city to be observed from June 17 to 19.
The DSGMC was given the task during a meeting chaired by Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal. The meeting was also attended by DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK.
Talking to HT on phone, GK said the DSGMC had painted Anandpur Sahib white during the Khalsa birth tercentenary celebrations in 1999. "This time also, we have been given the task of painting the town white, which we will try to complete in a stipulated time," he said.
He said a team of the DSGMC would visit the town on Monday to make assessment about the work to be done for whitewashing all the buildings of the town.
He said since the time was short it would be a big task to complete the work before the foundation day celebrations.
Besides the government, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee has also chalked out a number of programmes to celebrate the foundation day in a befitting manner.
