Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law vice-chancellor PS Jaswal, who is offered the post of dean of university instructions (DUI) at Panjab University, is yet to receive the offer letter from the PU authorities.
The syndicate in its meeting on January 4 had decided to offer him the post of DUI and had given him time till February 10 to join the university, failing which, the post would be offered to registrar and DUI (additional charge) A K Bhandari.
Official sources said, delay in sending the offer letter had happened due to delay in approval of minutes in syndicate meeting on January 4. "It could be sent any time now,"a top official said.
The PU is functioning without a regular DUI for the past over one month. After the retirement of Madhu Raka on November 30, Jaswal, being a senior PU faculty member, was to be offered the DUI's post.
DUI's post at Panjab University is offered to senior most faculty member. When contacted, Jaswal said that he was yet to get a formal letter from the university. "As and when I am approached, I will take a call on whether to accept the offer or not,"Jaswal said.
Sources said Jaswal was offered the post in November also, but as the syndicate decision on the matter was yet to come, he is learnt to have neither accepted nor rejected the offer. PU registrar AK Bhandari could not be reached out for his comments.
