A duststorm followed by rain in scattered areas of the tricity on Wednesday brought some relief to residents from the scorching heat prevailing during the past few days.
The sky turned cloudy late in the evening and strong winds at a speed of 45 km per hour gave way to a thunderstorm and rain.
According to the Chandigarh meteorological centre, the maximum temperature recorded in the city was 41.6 degrees Celsius with the minimum being 28.3°C, both three notches above normal.
The weatherman has forecast partly cloudy skies with scattered rain for the next three days with the maximum temperature settling at 38°C and the minimum at 25°C.
The Met has also warned about a duststorm and or thunderstorm accompanied with squalls that may occur at isolated places in Haryana and Punjab during the next 36 hours.
