Failing to get salaries for the past nine months, the e-panchayat employees will hold a protest outside Vikas Bhawan on April 29.

The information was given by members of the E-Panchayat Employees' Union after a meeting held at SAS Nagar Press Club on Tuesday.

The members said that Noida-based Tulip Telecom, which had hired 387 contractual labourers, had failed to pay their salaries since August 2012.

They also alleged that though provident fund and ESI were deducted from their salaries, no record was available for it.

“According to the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, 1970, we are entitled to get our salaries on the seventh of every month,” said union president Amandeep Singh, adding that they were also underpaid as per the Act.

He said they have been working without salaries because the project was a huge success as a result of which the state achieved third rank and received Rs 20 lakh incentive from the union government for its successful implementation.

Singh said in a meeting held on March 2, under the chairmanship of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, it was agreed that employees were not getting the benefits they were supposed to and the state government should intervene and resolve the issue. However, no action had been taken so far.

The union demanded that the e-panchayat society should take the project in its own hands rather than giving it to some outside company and salaries should be paid at the earliest.
