Punjab deputy chief minister Sukbir Singh Badal on Thursday finalised the initiation of the e-stamping programme for all deeds of more than Rs 50,000, besides directing all divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to formally launch e-stamping by mid-October.

At a high-level meeting here, Sukhbir, who was accompanied by revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia, asked the senior officers of the revenue department, divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to ensure that all land registrations and mutation of deeds should be done under e-stamping after mid-October.

He asked the DCs to involve all stakeholders, including stamp vendors, to educate them about the computerisation of the stamp duty advanced system (C-SDAS) so that the same could be implemented effectively.

Stating that Punjab was signing an agreement with the Stock Holding Corporation of India, a central record-keeping agency to implement and monitor the programme properly, Sukhbir said the required training to the users as well as staff of sub-registrar officers and other officers concerned would also be imparted. He asked DCs to ensure effective and speedy implementation of this programme for the facilitation of people.
