Easy win for Punjab in junior hockey nationals

Hockey Punjab defeated Services Sports Control Board 4-1, while Hockey Himachal thrashed Hockey Chhattisgarh 3-0 on the fourth day of the 5th Junior Men National Hockey Championship Division A being played in Mysore, Karnataka, on Friday.

In other matches, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy edged past Hockey Maharashtra 4-3, while Hockey Odisha drubbed Manipur Hockey 6-1.

Hockey Karnataka registered a narrow 3-2 win over Hockey Bhopal, while Hockey Jharkhand thumped Sports Authority of India

Hockey Punjab started well against Services Sports Control Board.

Dominating the first half Punjab scored three goals without conceding any.

Punjab sounded the board in the very first minute of the game with Ajmer Singh scoring a field goal. He doubled the lead in the 17th minute again with a field goal.

Punjab notched up there third goal of the first half in the 21st minute through Simranjeet Singh.

It was only in the 53rd minute that Bishram Dodray of Services Sports Control Board managed to score a goal to reduce the margin.

However, Punjab responded in the 66th minute with Ajit Pandit scoring the fourth goal for the wining team.

Hockey Himachal completely dominated the match against Chhattisgarh.

Himachal started the game by attacking and trying to put pressure on the opponents.

Their efforts yielded results in the 23rd minute when Jugraj Singh hammered the ball to convert the penalty corner opportunity.

Within two minutes the team got another go at the penalty corner and Jugraj did not miss taking the lead to 2-0.

In the second half Himachal scored through Abhishek in the 50th minute to round off the tally.
