EC announces end of model code of conduct

With the announcement and notification of election results for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the Election Commission on Monday announced the end of model code of conduct in Punjab.

The code came into effect on March 5. According to additional chief electoral officer, Punjab, Raminder Singh, the declaration of results with respect to all parliamentary constituencies has been completed and notified by the EC. With a notification on May 18, the model code of conduct has ceased to be in operation.
