Election campaign in Himachal Pradesh hots up

Campaigning in election-bound Himachal Pradesh is on high with Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj addressing rallies and meetings on Thursday. Gandhi addressed election rally in Keylong of Lahaul-Spiti, Solan and in Kangra district. Sushma Swaraj spoke at public meeting at Sundernagar to canvass support for Rakesh Jamwal of BJP.

Campaigning in election-bound Himachal Pradesh is on high with Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, Opposition leader Sushma Swaraj addressing rallies and meetings on Thursday.

Gandhi addressed election rally in Keylong of Lahual Spiti, Solan and in Kangra district. Sushma Swaraj spoke at public meeting at Sundernagar to canvass support for Rakesh Jamwal of BJP. Suhasini Ali addressed public
meetings at Cheog, Theog and Shimla for CPI(M) candidates Kuldeep Tanwar from Kasumpti, Rakesh Singha from Theog and Tekinder Panwar at Shimla.

Addressing mediapersons at Sundernagar, Swaraj asked the party rebels to retire in favour of official candidates.
She said former BJP Minister and six-time MLA Roop Singh should sit in the favour of Rakesh Jamwal from Sundernagar as party wants new face to come up in the electoral process.

She also lashed at UPA for unprecedented hike in the prices of essential commodities and LPG.

Subhasni Ali, while criticising BJP and Congress, said natural resources were being plundered by the big industrial houses but labour laws were violated by them in the name of reforms.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was likely to address a election rally at Una on October 28 but it could get postponed in view of the impending cabinet reshuffle.

BSP supermo Mayawati would also address a public rally at Una on October 28.
