Former Chandigarh Territorial Youth Congress ( CTYC) president Vijay Pal Singh Dimpy, who is facing allegations of cheating former Punjab director general of police (DGP) SS Virk, has offered to pay 50 lakh to the latter. Dimpy made this offer before the court of judicial magistrate Shilpi Gupta during the hearing of his bail application on Tuesday.
The court had kept the bail application pending till Wednesday when accused Dimpy will deposit the money in the form of a demand draft in name of Virk.
Dimpy was arrested on April 6, on the complaint of former Punjab DGP SS Virk, wherein he had accused Dimpy of duping him of 50 lakh in 2006. Once a close associate of Virk, Dimpy was arrested on a warrant after a case was registered against him in January 2013.
As per the allegations, in 2006 the former DGP had paid Dimpy 50 lakh to look for some property in Chandigarh. Virk had alleged that Dimpy failed to locate the property and did not return the money. The complaint was filed in 2012 and a case was registered in 2013.
Dimpy had applied for the bail, which was strongly objected to by Virk’s counsel. Dimpy, a history-sheeter, had complained of chest pain soon after his arrest and was sent to judicial custody. The police have already moved an application of recalling the order of sending Dimpy to judicial custody. It will come up for hearing on Wednesday.
