Former Member of Parliament (MP), Satya Pal Jain on Saturday stayed away from the party’s core group meeting convened at the party office in sector-33, giving signals that all was not well within the party.

The meeting was attended by party affairs incharge (Chandigarh), Aarti Mehra, local MP, Kirron Kher, party president Sanjay Tandon and senior party leader, Harmohan Dhawan among other leaders.

Many leaders were surprised over Jain’s absence for the second consecutive day from a party event, but maintained that the matter was not discussed.

Jain had also skipped the party function held in sector-32 on Friday. Jain said that he could not attend meeting due to a law faculty meeting in PU.

“I had to preside over the meeting as dean, law faculty,” he said. Sources said that he was unhappy over the working of local unit president Sanjay Tandon.

It has come to light that leaving a function mid-way to thank party workers on Friday, Kirron attended a meeting with top officials at Dhawan’s residence late on Friday night. Sanjay Tandon and former MP, Satya Pal Jain, were not part of the meeting.
