Ex UT DSP's son accidently fires self, receives foot injury

The son of a retired deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of the UT police got injured in an accidental gunshot fired from his licensed pistol on Saturday morning. The 35-year old Amit received foot injuries after he accidently pulled the trigger of his 32 bore pistol at his Sector-49 residence.

Amit is former UT DSP Sandal Singh's son. The incident took place at around 10.30 am when Amit and his father were about to leave for Amritsar from Chandigarh in their car. With revolver in his hand, while Amit was picking up bags to keep them in the car, he accidentally shot himself. Navdeep Brar, assistant superintendent of police (ASP), south, said while Amit was carrying some items in his hand, in an attempt to open the door he pulled the trigger of the revolver, pointed towards his foot.

He was rushed to a private hospital in SAS Nagar. Amit's foot got fractured in the accident but his condition is stated to be stable now and is still at the hospital.
