The Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) of the municipal corporation (MC), held under the chairmanship of mayor Poonam Sharma, on Friday cleared the fees for installation of the mobile towers across the city. The committee approved that `5 lakh will be charged for seven years as the licence fee for installing mobile towers across the city. In case of the government land, additional amount of `5 lakh will be charged per annum.
These mobile towers will be installed as per the new policy for mobile towers formulated by the UT administration.
Meanwhile, the F&CC cleared the agenda of installation of mobile towers but did not mention any specific area where the towers will come up. The agenda only says that mobile towers will be put up at unused spots such as parking, community centres, dispensaries, waterworks, tubewells and open areas excluding parks. However, these towers will not come up in the residential areas. As per the agenda, non-refundable licence fees of `5 lakh for seven years should be deposited within 30 days of the grant of licence and before the start of work on the site. The fees would at least double every seven years from the date of the notification, while the licence fee would remain unchanged in every seven-year period.
The officials claimed that these towers would be different from the ones that were set up atop buildings earlier. “These towers don’t emit radiations and will be installed on the ground,”said an official.
Besides, the mayor also condemned the recent incident of molestation of a minor in school buses, adding that a strict action would be taken against the unauthorised parking of school buses on the MC land.
Reserve price of fish market booths reduced by 30%
The F&CC also decided to reduce the proposed reserve price of as many as 32 booths and a chill room of modern air condition fish, meat and poultry products market in Sector 41 by 30% on monthly license fee basis.
The proposed rate for booth numbers 1-12, having area 21.21sq metre, is `21,500 per month; for booth numbers 25-30, having area 19.02sq metre is `19,500 per month; for booth numbers 32-33, having 39.51sq metre area is `39,600 per month.
The mayor said action would be taken against unauthorised meat/fish and poultry sellers operating in the city. For the parking lots across the city, only highest bidder will be allowed to allot the parking area and second highest bidder will be allowed to allot the parking lot.
