Fake Samsung products worth Rs 40 lakh seized from Sector 22

Duplicate products being stored and sold under the brand name of Samsung worth Rs 40 lakh were seized during an enforcement action on three shops at the Sector-22 market here on Tuesday night.

The action was taken by the Operation Cell, Chandigarh, along with Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights (EIPR).

During the drive, EIPR representatives and cops came across over 2,726 duplicate mobile accessories such as flip covers, tab covers and chargers, which were being sold under the brand name of Samsung.

Abhishek Kumar of Om Communication, Ashish Bajaj of Bajaj Computer, and Sunit Kathpal of Gurudev Communication were arrested and FIRs were lodged against the accused at the Sector 17 police station.

The drive was carried out under the supervision of deputy superintendant of police (DSP), crime, Jagbir Singh.

Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights provides governments, businesses and individuals with information, analysis, training, advice and products to mitigate the growing risks associated with white-collar crimes, misuse of property, intrusions to computer networks, e-commerce site construction and usage, fraud, physical attacks, threats, violence, and uninformed decisions based upon incomplete or inaccurate information.
