Police on Tuesday arrested a man and his paramour on a charge of killing his two children in a village of Fatehabad district on the suspicion that they were born out of his wife's illegitimate relationship.
A police spokesperson said the accused, identified as Ramu of Balsamand village, and his paramour Praveena of Bhattu Kalan had killed son Puneet, 8, and daughter Payal, 7, on July 13. They had thrown the bodies in the Bhattu main canal.
The spokesperson said the accused had admitted that he suspected his wife Saroj was having an extra-marital affair and both children were born out of their illicit relationship. On the day of the crime, Ramu and Praveena took the children to fields, where Ramu hit the children with iron rods to death.
After commiting the crime, Ramu stayed with his wife for a few days and then eloped with Praveena. Subsequently, the two accused were arrested.
