The court of district and sessions judge RK Sondhi on Friday convicted the father and uncle of 15-year-old girl, Tahira, of murdering her, after they found she was in love with the elder sister’s fiancée, Golu.

The quantum of sentence will be pronounced on Monday.

The case

Tahira’s body was discovered near an orchard in Khangesra-Alipur village on the night of October 23, 2013.

A native of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, the victim was reportedly having an affair with her elder sister’s fiancée and was sent to her uncle Salim’s house in Barwala by her parents Shaukeen and Vahida.

Shaukeen had instructed Salim that if the girl did not leave Golu, she should be killed. With the help of Shaukeen’s minor son and his son, Salim killed the girl.

Shaukeen continued to claim that he had never asked Salim to kill his daughter. He was the complainant in the case but as the investigations unfolded, he was made an accused and arrested. The case was registered for murder and disappearance of evidence.

Along with the father and the uncle, the police had also made the real brother and the victim’s cousin as accused. Being juvenile, they are facing a case separately.
