A number of disgruntled voters complained of glitches such as faulty election ID cards and slips on Wednesday. In one such incident at DLF City, three different voter ID cards carried photos of one woman. At The Shri Ram School polling station, president of DLF phase-4 RWA Brij Mohan Mehta alleged that one instance of fake voting had come to light as a legitimate voter was nearly debarred from voting as someone else had already exercised his vote.
“We complained to the returning officer, police and the election observer about the incident. After much pleading the resident was allowed to vote,” said Mehta.
Nidhi Chaddha complained, “I got three voter slips instead of one, you tend to lose faith in the election commission because of such incidents. Last elections too I faced the same problem and got one cancelled, but I am encountering the same issue yet again.”
A resident of Hamilton Court, Sumit Bhaskar also alleged that representatives of a particular political party were found sitting with the booth level officers (BLOs).
The representative ran away after the voters protested.During this process a young voter was injured. However, none of the BLOs or the police officials could recount this incident.
HT had recently reported that several residents were yet to be enrolled correctly in the electoral rolls of Gurgaon, less than a week from the assembly elections.
While a vacant plot has been cited as an address in voter slips of some people who neither live nor work there, others have mistakes such as missing residential addresses, wrong names and altered photos.
