FDA seals Ambala shop for illegally selling drugs

A team of the food and drug administration (FDA), Haryana seized 12 types of schedule H medicines illegally sold for the purpose of intoxication from Shree Sant Medicose, Naraingarh Road, Ambala City during a raid and sealed the shop.

A team of the food and drug administration (FDA), Haryana seized 12 types of schedule H medicines illegally sold for the purpose of intoxication from Shree Sant Medicose, Naraingarh Road, Ambala City during a raid and sealed the shop.

An FDA spokesperson said that seized medicines included lomotil tablets, spasmaproxyvon capsules, nitrazepam tablets, alprazolam tablets, lorezapam tablets and rexcof cough syrup. The intoxicants seized on Friday were hidden in the toilet in the rear portion of the premises.

He said that over 40 such shops had been sealed in the state, which selling such medical intoxicants without proper records as mandatory under the Drugs Act. On one hand, the youths are not only harming their health by using these intoxicants while on the other these drugs are allegedly used by anti-social elements for robbing the passengers in trains and buses, he added.

He said that medicines would be produced before the court for obtaining custody orders. Also, legal show cause notice under the provision of Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 would be issued for taking further action against the culprit.
