Haryana Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (HSGPC) general secretary Gurucharan Singh Sandhu on Tuesday said in the upcoming assembly elections, each political party in Haryana should field Sikh candidates from 10 assembly constituencies so that Sikhs could play a major role in the state politics.

At a press conference at Barnala Road in Sirsa, Sandhu said if political parties failed to field Sikh candidates, then HSGPC would announce its party and candidates for the assembly election.

He said Sikhs in the state had been isolated due to the negligence of political parties.

Sandhu demanded tickets for Sikh candidates from Dabwali, Kalanwali, Rania, Ratia, Jagdhari, Assndh, Tohana, Pehowa, Ambala and Kalka.

He said the efforts to form a separate HSGPC had been successful and this was the first victory for the Sikh community.

He said the committee would take efforts to give a political boost to Sikhs. He said the HSGPC would form a separate wing within the committee to fight for the rights of the Sikhs.

He said the HSGPC would fight against those leaders wanting to revoke the formation of the committee.

On the occasion, district members Harpal Singh, Sardul Singh, Jernail Singh Brar, Phool Singh, Virender Singh, Ajayb Singh, Mlkeet Singh Amarjeet, Kashmir, Sudarshan and Harjinder were present.
