An important file of a building under construction has gone missing from the municipal corporation's office.

This building was being constructed on Chandigarh Road by violating the building bylaws. The inquiry was on into the case, and the MC had recently directed the building owner to pay `1.37 crore for violating the building bylaws.

City-based RTI activist Rohit Sabharwal had sought a copy of document regarding this building under the Right to Information Act, but the MC stated that the file was missing. Sabharwal also complained to the MC authorities regarding the missing file.

Meanwhile, zonal commissioner Kamlesh Bansal said, “I have written to the assistant town planner concerned to inform me that from when the Jawand Sons file was missing?”

Bansal said, “I have also asked the ATP to file a report that which official was responsible for the missing file. I have also directed the staff concerned to check the status of building, as no construction could take place there.”

Sabharwal raised a question that how the file could go missing when a big violation of building bylaws was found at this building under construction? “I want the chief vigilance officer to conduct an inquiry into the matter,” he said.
