The UT police arrested a man accused in the firing incident that occurred in Sector 27 on Saturday night.

The accused, identified as Maninderjit Singh alias Chotta Mani, is a resident of Sector 41 and is pursuing engineering from a private institute, while his brother is lodged in Burail jail.

The police are yet to arrest Monty Saha, suspected mastermind of the incident, who reportedly knows about the whereabouts of the other accused.

Police officials claimed that Monty was carrying a pistol and had fired in the air. Cops added that after questioning Mani, it was revealed that there were just six persons in the incident, not nine as they reported earlier.

DSP, East Anjitha Chepyala said, “Three bouncers also accompanied the assailants who had come from Sangrur, Punjab. The investigation into the case is still on. Mani told us that he was sitting in the car and did not attack anyone. We are also trying to nab another accused Kali.”

Victims Rajkumar and Bhiwani, who were injured during the assault, had named Karan Sharma of Sector 41, Monty Saha and Kali.

On July 5, five youngsters entered into Rajkumar’s house and started thrashing his family members and opened fire while escaping.
