Five incidents of thefts reported in city

Thefts were reported at four residential accommodations and a shop in separate incidents in Chandigarh on Sunday.
In first incident, Anil Agarwal, a resident of Modern Housing Complex in Manimajra, reported break in and thefts in three houses (5526, 5527, 5528 5523).

Taps, brass, electronic equipment and electrical fittings were stolen, said the police. Moreover, cupboards were also forced open and the houses were ransacked, the police said.

The incident came to light after Agarwal found the locks to his neighbour's house broken and alerted the police.
A case of lurking house lurking house-trespass or house-breaking (454) and theft in a house (380) under Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Manimjara police station.

In a separate incident, Prince Sharma, a resident of Sector 23, reported silver and gold ornaments and Rs 14,000 cash stolen. A case of theft has been registered at Sector-17 police station.

In another incident, Sanjeev Kumar, a resident of Dhanas, reported that someone has stolen mobile phones and accessories from his shop in Karbari Market near Togan Road on the night intervening of December 5-6. A case has been registered at Sector 11 police station.

Sunil Kumar, resident of EWS Colony Dhanas, has been nabbed in connection with the case.
