A five-year-old girl was abducted and raped by unidentified persons in Jind on Sunday. The child was abducted from the Saini Ram Lila ground, where she was playing, at 7pm. The police were informed and she was found at Devi Lal Chowk two hours later.

Though a case of kidnapping was registered on Sunday, family members along with residents gathered at the Jind SP Saurabh Singh's house on Monday evening, demanding medical examination of the victim.

Jaipal, an uncle of the girl, told mediapersons that she had been complaining of pain and had been unwell since she was found. She was taken to a private doctor, who confirmed that the child had been raped. The woman doctor, however, refused to hand over the report fearing police action against her.

When family members and other residents built pressure on the police, the victim was taken to the Jind Civil Hospital, where a team of doctors conducted the medical examination.

The SP was not available for comment. Hisar range IG AS Chawla told Hindustan Times that the medical examination had been conducted by the board but its report was awaited.
