UT administrator and Punjab governor Shivraj Patil has asked chancellors and vice-chancellors of all universities of Punjab to focus on education, extension and research, and development.
In a meeting on Friday, Patil said that in order to provide better education, there was a need to develop a culture of cooperation. Patil asked university heads to use modern technology by playing recorded lectures of eminent professors in classrooms.
Though Patil lauded the universities for imparting quality education, he said they were lagging behind in extension and research areas. He emphasised on research, saying that it would contribute to development. After hearing out problems faced by chancellors and V-Cs, Patil appealed to all of them to act as catalysts and create new opportunities for youth. He also asked universities to tap solar energy and urged them to prepare plans to install solar panels on their campuses.
Earlier, Punjab Agricultural University V-C BS Dhillon gave a presentation on bio-technology and on areas of research.
