Fog forces flight, train schedule go haywire

Owing to poor weather conditions, three flights which were scheduled to depart from the city were cancelled on Tuesday. Several other flights which plied were much delayed against their scheduled departure.

Owing to poor weather conditions, three flights which were scheduled to depart from the city were cancelled on Tuesday. Several other flights which plied were much delayed against their scheduled departure.


SpiceJet flight to Delhi that departs at 10.25am was cancelled along with two other flights of Jet Airways to Delhi that depart from Chandigarh at 12.55pm and 5.15pm respectively.

Meanwhile, Air India flight to Delhi departed at 12.39pm instead of 11.25am and an Indigo flight to Mumbai departed at 2.41pm against its scheduled departure at 12.20pm. Sources at the airport said no plan had been chalked out to handle flights during the foggy weather and therefore, the everyday operations might hamper.

Meanwhile, similar scenario prevailed with the trains and Unchahar express delayed over 11 hours. The Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi that reaches Chandigarh reached Chandigarh at 12.30pm instead of its scheduled arrival 11.05am. Himalyan Queen also ran over two hours against its schedule.


Flights affected:

One flight of Spice Jet flight to Delhi and three flights of Jet Airways to Delhi were cancelled.

Air India flight from city to Delhi was delayed by an hour, another flight of Indigo to Mumbai departed at 2.41pm against its scheduled departure at 12.20pm.

Trains delayed:

The New Delhi-Kalka Shatabdi reached at 12.30pm instead of its scheduled arrival at 11.05am.

The Sadbhavna Express and Jaipur-Chandigarh Garib Rath were late by two-four hours.

The Unchahar Express ran 11 hours behind its scheduled arrival at 9.25am.

Kalka-Howra express also ran behind its schedule by three hours.
