Alankar Theatre group is all set to stage its new production - Thought - which will be staged at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, on July 28.
The concept and story of the play has been written by Naresh Kumar, a student of National School of Drama (NSD). Naresh's brother, theatre artiste Chakresh Kumar, who is also a director of the play, says, "As the name gives away, Thought, has been developed from an idea. It's a story of middle-class man Sanjay Sharma, who is in a state of confusion about life and relationships in general."
Spilling more about the story, he adds, "One fine day, while Sanjay is going through the paper looking for some coupons, he comes across the 'Thought For The Day'. As the day progresses, he realises that everyone around him, from his wife and daughter to his colleagues and boss, is behaving in accordance with the quote.
Thus, he starts following these thoughts in the paper everyday, till one morning when he opens the paper to find the thought missing. The concept of the play is quite serious, but we have managed to include some humour in it."
The play will see 15 actors performing on stage. The duration of the play is one hour and 15 minutes. "The play is the final result of improvisation by all the actors. The idea had been conceived a long time ago, but the play grew in its true sense because of everyone's inputs," concludes Chakresh.
Catch the play, Thought, on July 28, 7 pm, at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16.
