Gripped by the hockey fever now, Bollywood’s “highest paid singer” Yo Yo Honey Singh has lent his voice to promote hockey. All set to release the untitled track later this month, rapper, music composer and now actor Honey Singh says hockey has been very close to his heart right from childhood and that he had wanted to make a contribution to the game and promote the national sport in his home state Punjab, as well as other parts of the country.

The singer, who recently wrapped up the shoot of the video at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, with players of the Jaypee Punjab Warriors team Sandeep Singh and Dharamveer Singh, shared further, “I’ll be following my favourite team —Jaypee Punjab Warriors in the upcoming Hockey India League (HIL) and I wish that they lift the cup this time.” Interestingly, Honey Singh shot the song, for which he claims to have charged no money, in one day despite the foggy weather.

Singh also revealed his plans of dedicating another song to the game of hockey in which he would have legendary players come together to promote the game.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Singh said he had never even dreamt of shooting along with the rapper. “I had been listening to Honey Singh since long, but hadn’t thought even in my wildest dreams that I would get a chance to shoot with him some day. For me, it was like a dream come true, especially because in the song Honey Singh wore my jersey and danced with me,” he smiled.

Honey Singh, who has already picked his favourite team for the second edition of the star-studded Hockey India League tournament, added, “I will promote the Jaypee Punjab Warriors team and the sport of hockey on all social handles, Facebook, twitter and You Tube.”
