The speedy investigation by the police into the attack on Rakesh Kranti, reporter of a Hindi daily, has led to the arrest of four miscreants, who assaulted him and injured him on December 16 night when he was returning from work.

SSP B Satheesh Balan told reporters here on Wednesday that the reporter had published news about the nexus between some private doctors and ambulance owners. Infuriated over the report, Anil, a chemist, who owned two ambulances, planned to attack the reporter. A day earlier, the accused damaged the car of the reporter so that he went to office on a motorcycle, making it easy to intercept him and attack him, he added.

The other arrested are Prince, Sonu and Sheelu. A case has been registered against the accused for attempt to murder and causing grievous injuries.
