The police have arrested four men on charges of raping and attempting to murder a 30-year-old woman in Karnal, on Friday.

Police said the victim and one Kuldeep were in a relationship and had been living in Rajiv Colony.

On September 10, Kuldeep took the girl to Karnal on the pretext of marriage, but there he raped her, in an area under the jurisdiction of the Thana City police. After the alleged rape, he along with three of his friends, Manju, Sonu and Vinod reportedly also tried to strangulate the woman.

Manju is a resident of Indira Colony, while Sonu and Vinod are residents of Rajiv Colony, Panchkula.

In her complaint, the victim has alleged that the accused had left her for dead.

A zero FIR can be transferred to the police station near the victim’s place of residence and allows for convenience of the complainant.

“We have registered a case of rape, attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation,” said Sector-14 station house officer inspector Suresh Kumar.
