The bodies of a Sikh woman and her three sons, who were found murdered in their apartment in Brussels on September 28, were cremated on a single pyre amid heartrending scenes here on Friday.
Jasvir Singh broke down as he lit the funeral pyre of his wife Rajvir Kaur (32) and sons Manraj (7), Karmanvir Singh (5) and Navjot (3).
The bodies reached the New Delhi airport in the morning, from where the family brought them to the village in an ambulance.
Thousands of people attended the funeral, including Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, PWD minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, chief minister's adviser Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, SAD leader Amanjot Kaur, deputy commissioner Rahul Tiwari and Congress leader KK Bawa.
Atwal and Grewal said the government would provide all possible help to the grief-stricken family.
