Satish Nandal, the Indian National Lok Dal candidate and Dharambir Hooda, the nominee of Bharatiya Janata Party, who were once confidants of chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, have turned out to be his foes in his home constituency – Garhi Sampla Kiloi for the October 15 assembly poll.

Nandal, owner of a construction company, which had built the huge government building of Rohtak mini-secretariat, ended his association with Hooda after accusing the latter of favouring Dharambir even after giving assurance to Nandal in the Jat Education Society president election in 2008.

Dharambir Hooda, who earlier used to work in the excise and taxation department as inspector, was elected to the president’s post of prestigious Jat Education Society owing to support by chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in 2008.

Dharambir, son of a retired veterinary surgeon, who owns 3.5 acres of agriculture land at native village, Roorki, spent huge amount on advertisements before getting ticket from BJP. This action of his has raised many eyebrows, as being the son of retired veterinary doctor he belonged to a modest background. Dharambir’s village falls under Garhi Sampla-Kiloi.

Nandal of Bohar village in the same segment, had contested against Hooda in the 2009 elections on INLD ticket and polled 17,749 votes.

In the last assembly election, Hooda won the seat by 72,100 votes, while Nandal was runner-up. In the recent Lok Sabha poll, Deepender Singh Hooda, son of chief minister and Congress candidate from Rohtak, polled 82,564 votes from Garhi Sampla Kiloi assembly segment that comes under Rohtak Lok Sabha seat.

Another old-time confidant of CM Hooda, Ram Karan Hooda, who was frontrunner for BJP ticket from the same segment, may also throw his hat in the ring as an Independent candidate, as the saffron party has announced candidature of Dharambir Hooda.
