From Big B to Dimple Kapadia: actors who have used prosthetic make-up for more realistic looks

Many Bollywood actors have gone an extra mile when it comes to experimenting with their looks. Moreover, techniques like prosthetic make up have made it possible for our 'risk-taking' actors don look that appear more realistic on the camera.

In the recently released trailer of Finding Fanny, yesteryears actor Dimple Kapadia was seen doning a 20 kg fake prosthetic bum to appear like a bulky catholic from Goa!

Prosthetics is not new to Bollywood and according to reports was first used on actor Sanjeev Kumar in the 1981 movie Chehre Pe Chehra.

Be it Bollywood's Shahenshah Amitabh Bachchan wearing prosthetics for Paa or Kamal Hassan 'reconstructing' himself as a woman in Chachi 420, and Hindustani, many actors got into a new skin to experiment with their looks.

Here's a look at actors who wore prosthetic make-up.

Shahrukh Khan

The Badshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan, donned prosthetic make up for his highly ambitious project, Ra.One. Shahrukh wore it for 8 to 10 hours daily and couldn't eat or drink during make-up hours.

Priyanka Chopra

PeeCee used this technique to don look of 65-years-old woman in her 2011 thriller and black comedy Saat Khoon Maaf. Now the ambitious actor would be seen wearing eye lid prothetics in her upcoming biopic on Mary Com.

Shilpa Shetty

She didn't shave her locks but opted for prosthetic make-up.

Shilpa Shetty who de-glammed and don a bald look in her Indo-chinese film titled ' Desire', went through four hours of prosthetic makeup everyday and was neither allowed to eat or drink or talk during the process.

Amitabh Bachchan

Amitabh Bachchan has probably become the first actor to play a child at the age of 68. Paa premiere today!

Another and by far one of Bollywood incredible prosthetics wonder was Amitabh Bachchan's look in Paa. Make up experts from Hollywood were roped in for R Balki wonder character Auro, a role for which the legendary actor went through four to five hours of make-up sessions every day.

Hrithik Roshan

Not only Hrithik Roshan left everyone mesmerised with his different disguises created through prosthetics in Dhoom 2, his mask in Krrish was created using the same technique.

From Chachi 420 to Dasavatharam to Vishwaroopam to Avvai Kamal Hassan has effectively and efficiently done it all. Prosthetic make-up veteran Michael Westmore was specially roped up for creating his ten looks in Dasavatharam.

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan had seven different looks in The Dirty Picture that not only called for long hours of make-up, but some scenes also required face and body prosthetics. Vidya needed two-and-a-half hours of make-up every day to 'reconstruct' herself. Her pregnant look in 2012 box office success 'Kahani' was created through prosthetics.

Kangana Ranaut

The Bollywood queen wore prosthetic teeth to make her jaw look thicken and less shapely in her 2014 crime drama Revolver Rani. Kangana played the role of Alka Singh, leader of a political party, who is obsessively in love with Rohan Mehra (played by Vir Das), a rising star of Bollywood.

Richa Chadda

Richa Chadda too had worn a nine-month pregnant stomach, created through prosthetics in Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur.

Deepika Padukone
