Nobody has used Twitter better than the celebrities who have made full use of this social networking site to connect with their fans, followers and well-wishers. But at times they even fall prey to the bitter comments or hurtful tweets of their detractors and critics, leading to a virtual war of words, better termed as "Twitter-Wars".
And the latest to get involved in this "virtual war" are none other than Comedy King Kapil Sharma and self proclaimed billionaire-cum-actor Kamma R Khan.
Kapil Sharma vs KRK
This was totally uncalled for, but Kapil seemingly being of a calm mind tried to vent his anger through gritted teeth tweets,
It's not only you, Kapil..there are many who are unaware of KRK..
The catfight began when taking a dig at Kirron Kher, Gul tweeted:
"Kirron Kher is a heavy weight in every sense in comparison to feather light Gul Panag!
Doubt if I'll have the energy to run around like this and serve my people, when I'm 60.I guess that's why there's normally a retirement age."
The tweet didn't go down well Kirron who replied:
"I may not be a marathon runner but I know Slow and Steady wins the race. I love the Josh in our Karyakartas."My father is 101 years old and still happening. He said," Good Luck Puttar. You have Always been winner." For me Life starts at 60.
"I (have) got a better idea... I will make 'My name is Raavan' and Mani should make 'Raavan Ki Kurbaan'.
KJo soon hit back saying
"You have an amazing sense of humour Ramu (Varma)! Never shows up in your films though RGV's rejoinder:
Ramu didn't stop there and wrote:
"Karan, because of the constant bashing I receive, I developed my sense of humour as a defence mechanism. And talking of my films not having humour, check out the great comedy I made called 'RGV Ki Aag''He also said: "I hate I Hate Luv Storys for being a big hit and I love I Hate Luv Storys because its K. Jos's (Karan Johar's) film, who I love to hate and hate to love and that's our love-hate story."
KJo, however pronounced the final verdict saying:
"Superb tweet Ramu!!! You couldn't have worded our 'story' better!!"
Shobha De vs Sonam Kapoor:
Writer Shobha De and Sonam Kapoor entered into a war when the celebrated writer called Sonam's I hate Love Story 'dumb'
Fuming Sonam entered into a catfight on Twitter saying:
"Guys please don't take Shobha De seriously. She's a fossil who's getting no action and going through menopause. "
But the actor soon apologized ending the fight with another tweet
"Mrs de I owe you an apology for getting personal. I'm ashamed for my momentary lapse in judgement. And apologetic.. Every writer and journalist and audience are entitled to their opinion and I respect that."
It all began when Arbaz Khan replaced Anurag Kashyap's brother Abhinav Kashyap as the director of Dabangg 2,
Anurag expressed his resentment on twitter saying:
"Salman Khan thinks he made my brother's life. Hope he does the same for Arbaaz when he does Dabangg 2. All The Best."
He further tweeted, "Abhinav Singh Kashyap, you rock... I love you... Show them what you are made off."
It didn't go down well with Arbaaz who tweeted: "Instead of GRATTITUDE some people show ATTITUDE. Wah kya zamana aa gaya hai. Time will tell. Kabhi asliat ko bahar aane mein time lagta hai."
He didn't stop here and went ahead to say: "Successful people always have two things on their lips."Silence" N "Smile". Smile to solve the problem and Silence to avoid the Problem."
The fight ended when two days later, Anurag apologised saying:
"i have a lot of respect for Arbaaz , and also sohail and his father..i will never abuse them.."
Salman Rushdie vs Taslima Nasreen, (2011)
It all started when Taslima Nasreen shot off at Salman Rushdie saying:
"Salman Rushdie is begging everyone to follow him on Twitter. He'll feel embarrassed if he doesn't get a million followers."
She continued with a barrage of insults, "Be aware of Salman Rushdie! He wants to get girls in his 'whipped cream range'.
"Ha ha, since there'd be no 72 virgins for him, he wants to make the most of it before he probably turns 72."
Infuriated Rushdie's replied:, "Somewhere in the distance I hear the envious miaow of #Taslima-Nasreen being catty about me. Tut, tut, Taslima. #Shame #Lajja,"
Kirron Kher Vs Gul Panag
The fight in the Chandigarh Lok Sabha constituency didn't end with the election results, as the two celeb contestants, Kirron Kher and Gul Panag, inadvertently found themselves in the middle of a Twitter catfight.
It started with actor-turned-author Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who is also filmmaker Shekhar Kapur's ex wife, making a rather distasteful comment about Panag, who lost to Kher. "Kirron Kher win over Gul Panag. India needs strong women & mothers, not cleavage flashers." (sic), read the tweet.
Within minutes, the post spurred strong criticism from Twitterati, including actor Sonam Kapoor, who posted, "I cannot believe a woman tweeted that. It's disgusting. Women are the biggest enemies of women."
Suchitra made it worse by responding with, "True. So if u ever aspire to political office, remember to put ur clothes back on (sic)."
While, both Kirron Kher and Gul Panag maintained silence, Kher's husband, actor Anupam Kher, said, "Complimenting one person by taking a dig at another is not good. Suchitra should not have done that."
After a strong chiding by Twitter users, including one who posted Kirron Kher's cleavage-baring pic to make a point, Suchitra deleted the offensive tweet and posted, "ok now i've had it with that last tweet-2 late 2 take it back. Not a personal attack on Gul but a general obsrvatn on political demeanor. my apologies to @GulPanag - but i stand by my statement that a young woman seen in a sexual context will not be taken seriously otherwise (sic)."
Sunanda Pushkar Vs Mehr Tarar
The biggest and most unfortunate twitter war was, however, between Mehr Tarar and Sunanda Pushkar.
A barrage of embarrassing tweets from the Twitter account from Trivandrum MP Shashi Tharoor created a major controversy, linking him to a journalist in Pakistan.
While Tharoor tweeted that his account had been hacked, his wife Sunanda Tharoor immediately tweeted out that she had been tweeting using his account. She was upset with the messages being exchanged by Tharoor with Mehr Tarar, a Pakistani columnist.
"Sorry folks, my @Twitter account has been hacked & will be temporarily deactivated. Bear with me while we solve this," was the minister's last tweet from his handle.
Sunanda Pushkar was found dead days after accusing Tharoor of being 'unfaithful'.
