With the D-day for the Panjab University campus student council elections here, the candidates are busy doing last-minute preparations. From prayers to visits to holy shrines and keeping lucky charms with them-student leaders are making every little move to ensure their win.
Panjab University Student Union (PUSU) candidate from Government College, Sector 11, Veerpratap Singh said, "This is an important day for me and I have decided to dedicate the morning to god. I will get up at 4am and drive to Nada Sahib gurudwara in Panchkula and pray for my victory. I want the almighty to bless me, so that I can fight all odds."
The presidential candidate from Student's Organisation of Panjab University (SOPU) in DAV College Amandeep Singh said, "I talk to my parents in the morning. On Wednesday, I will make sure to listen to my mother's voice, which is the most divine blessing for me. She is and always has been god for me, so she will be the first person I want to hear and seek her blessings as she has always supported me in everything."

The candidates are seeking the blessings of the almighty for winning the elections, but they also believe that the voters will take the best decision.

Amandeep added, "Voters should take the election seriously because we are going to be their representatives. I want all students to vote for their choice. I request them to take this seriously, because it's them we are fighting for."

Gurbakshish Singh, presidential candidate from PUSU in DAV College said, "I believe in god and I carry his photograph with me. Hence the almighty is my lucky charm. I will also be visiting the gurudwara in the morning."

Brahmjot Singh, presidential candidate from SOPU+CSU+NSUI+HSA alliance of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, said, "I have been campaigning in a good way and I hope that the students support me. I believe in myself, but still the first thing I will do is go to the gurudwara and seek the blessings of god."
